I want to draw your attention to one of the most fascinating reviews of the film, The Band's Visit, directed by Eran Kolirin --
This article, by Anat Zuria, claims that The Band's Visit "touches indirectly on one of Israel's lost cultural opportunities, in that it turned its back on Arab and Mizrahi culture. And although this phenomenon appears to be gradually fading from Israel's cultural scene, it left many Israelis (both Jews and Arabs) feeling hurt and despondent. Most of the people of the town are second or third generation immigrants from Arab countries."
