Israeli Forum of Documentary Filmmakers

At the award ceremony last week of the Forum of Documentary Filmmakers, The Tale of Nicolai and the Law of Return (David Ofek) won the award for best documentary of the year. In his remarks, David Ofek talked about how the story of Nicolai should teach us that others should be treated better in our society – foreign workers, new immigrants, everyone – because there is only a fine line between who is different and who is one of us. More details in a previous blog posting.

The award for the best feature length documentary went to Unmistaken Child (הגלגול ) directed by Nati Baratz (102 min.) which also won the prize for Best Documentary at the Haifa Film Festival (2008). The film is an intimate look at a Tibetan monk and is available from Alma Films alma@alma-films.com
