Ajami wins top Israeli Award

Big news!!

It was announced last night that the winner this year of the Israeli Ophir Award for Best Feature Film is the film Ajami, directed by Scandar Copti and Yaron Shani. The film which also won awards for best direction, script, editing and musical score is about issues of identity, crime, drugs, and the hardships of life in the Arab neighborhood of the same name in Jaffa.

The Ophir Award is named in memory of Shaike Ophir and the winner automatically becomes Israel's nominee for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Film.

See what I've written about Ajami.
